Mayonnaise Hair Conditioner

Conditioner acts as temporary filler that smoothes out chinks in the cuticle layer. This keeps strands from tangling around each other as you brush and style your hair. Conditioner also forms a protective seal around hair, which forces the cuticle to lie flat – this flat surface reflects light and makes hair shine.

You may also find that the hair becomes charged with static electricity, just after the shampoo. This gives the hair a ‘fly away’ look and is also difficult to manage.

Mayonnaise can be used to add luster to dry hair. Using it as a conditioner will also increase the shine value and it is simple to use.

  • Wash your hair normally with a gentle shampoo formulated for dry hair. Towel dry your hair.
  • Starting at the top of your head, gently comb in at least one tablespoon or more of real mayonnaise. Make sure to cover every strand of hair. The longer your hair, the more mayonnaise you’ll need.
  • Leave the mayonnaise in your hair for at least one hour. Extra dry hair may need an additional hour to show improvement.
  • Wash your hair again with a gentle shampoo such as baby shampoo. Rinse thoroughly. Comb or brush your hair and let dry. Style as you normally would.
Tips
Many people claim that homemade mayonnaise works better than store bought. Make blender mayonnaise by combining 1 egg yoke, 1/2 tsp. mustard, 1 tsp. white vinegar and a pinch of salt and pepper. Blend these ingredients together on the slowest blender setting and slowly add approximately 3 ounces of olive or other vegetable oil.
